Black Panther Director Says Thanks to Aquaman
Ryan Coogler has rekindled the relationship between Marvel Studios and DC through his recent statement. The director of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever thanked Aquaman for making it easier for them to introduce Namor.
The character played by Tenoch Huerta is in the spotlight in the latest film from Marvel. Many have discussed the villain character that the studio never paid much attention to until it was finally shown in Black Panther 2.
It turns out that the decision to withhold the appearance of Namor was a request from Ryan Coogler. He made a special note for Kevin Feige not to feature that character in any film until Black Panther 2 was made and they learned to perfect Namor through the film starring Jason Momoa.
He also did not hesitate to express his gratitude to DC for introducing the human character of Atlantis first. Although in the end many people compare Namor with Aquaman.
"I think there is an indirect lesson for us to make Namor different from Aquaman. I appreciate the audience because a lot of people watched the film. A lot of people liked the film. Our job is of course to think about and make our film also have a sense of what the market wants and need," he said.
"I think giving people something different, if you can give them something that's good but also unique. That's the best. We also want to emphasize the things that make the two characters different (Aquaman and Namor) because they have a lot in common in publicity," he added.
Ryan Coogler's remarks came after Black Adam star, Dwayne Johnson, congratulated Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which became the film with the biggest revenue in its first week this November.
They also managed to beat the achievements achieved by Black Adam in the previous month.
"Beautiful!!! Can't wait to watch the film," wrote The Rock.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever managed to gross up to 185 million USD in North American theaters alone. Meanwhile they managed to gross up to 202 million USD worldwide and set a Hollywood record in November.
